Location/Division Specific Information

As the Facility department we strive to provide an outstanding operating environment for our employees, visitors and business partners. The facilities specialist delivers projects relating to construction, plant improvement or installations, and to designing/adapting office and production equipment layouts in existing and future facilities in MSD sites across Eindhoven. This role is based on site in Eindhoven and reports directly to the Senior Facilities Manager Eindhoven. This role is designated as an 'on site' role, opportunities for home working are very limited and cannot always be accommodated.

What are your responsibilities?
  • Support the delivery of cross functional projects. Collaborating with Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, EHS, and financial organizations to meet project scopes, schedules, quality and cost estimates.
  • Plan and coordinate projects and tasks to meet strategic, operational and financial targets. Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed to standard and follow up on any deficiencies.
  • Prioritize and drive tasks and remove barriers to enable completion with minimum disruption to core activities. Collaborating with teams across the Organisation to define and meet project objectives.
  • Detailed planning, design of construction, and installation of new and existing facilities, infrastructure, equipment and clean rooms. Assisting in value engineering assessments and contractor management
  • Define process requirements and establish project design criteria based on engineering analysis and evaluation. Prepare detailed functional specifications, review processes and carry out economic studies as required to develop project alternatives and final developed scope.
  • Work closely with colleagues in local finance and indirect sourcing deliver the best solutions, price, service and contractual agreements.
  • Review tenders for construction work, make change orders, check invoices
  • Provide oversight of work performed by contractors and providers of equipment and facilities services. Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standard operating procedures. Ensure Safe working practices are promoted in all works undertaken by the facilities function and external contractors.
  • Ensure complete equipment, building, and infrastructure documentation including up-to-date drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and maintenance records are held in a locally accessible location.
  • Support PPI initiatives & identify 'Just Do It' initiatives to create value and enhance the facilities management practices, soft services and infrastructure on site.
  • Attend site facilities team meetings to review daily objectives, workload and urgent support activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national and international legislation and adherence to company rules and regulations (IMS and EMS). Ensure the site is built and maintained according to the requirements of insurance assessors and regulatory bodies.
  • Work with the local/regional Environmental, Health and Safety team to ensure the buildings meet health and safety requirements/standards and legislation.
  • Prepare materials in readiness for internal and external audits, i.e. insurance Companies (FM Global) and external bodies.
  • Support emergency response drills and business continuity test exercises
  • Additional activities as requested in support of facilities objectives.
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering or a related technical field is required or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills. Plus 3 years of experience in supporting Facilities activities or related projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D software.
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment with multiple customers, across differing cultures.
  • Dependability regarding completion of assignments and attendance, with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer focused with high attention to detail and high level of professionalism
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule from time to time
  • Fluent in Dutch and English languages
